Product Details
Dating from the nineteenth-century, this superb 'pique assiette' mosaic cache pot features a broken portrait of a lady wearing a head scarf.

Pique assiette, a mosaic technique, involves decorating pottery by embedding pieces of broken ceramics, such as plates, cups, or tiles, into wet cement or adhesive to create a new, artistic piece. This method is characterized by its creative reuse of discarded or broken pottery items.

One of the most famous examples of pique assiette is the artwork of Raymond Isidore, also known as Picassiette, who covered his entire house and garden in Chartres with mosaics created using this technique during the mid-20th century.
